Cotton Candy Dreams

Cotton candy dreams
Sweet silk spun in circle clouds
Infrequent treasures

I do not remember the best or the worst
I recall few scattered stars
Comical, calm, terrifying few
Better remembered than the taste of cotton candy

I recollect control at my fingertips
Several nights spent writing a story in sequence
Of other people in other places
Of other people in my place
Friends, family, strangers
And extensions of myself

There were nightmares of powerful phobias
Impactful surrealism given a shrug
Genres in plenty for no audience to enjoy
Inspiring ideas left for dust in a journal
But so many forgotten whole

Cotton candy dreams
Flimsy stories on a stick
Enjoyed at their time

Drowzee, the Hypnosis Pokémon

hand-drawn artwork

Drowzee are said to be the descendants of a now-deceased legendary creature, one rumored to eat the dreams of others to survive; whether the connection is fabricated, coincidental or true remains to be unknown. This is what Drowzee are known for today, sustaining their lives by physically eating the dream energy of other people and Pokémon. Skilled in hypnotism, this Pokémon stalks their prey until they are in their happiest moments and then lulls them to sleep. Drowzee prefer the taste of good dreams, influenced by the emotions of the target in those moments before they go to rest, so forcing sleep upon others is the best chance they will have to find those tasty dreams. Any other kind of dream often tastes awful to the Pokémon, and in the worst cases can actually make them sick for eating.
This doesn’t mean Drowzee are mean-spirited in nature, attempting to rob people of their good feelings. While the people whose dreams Drowzee eat are not remembered by them, this doesn’t bring harm to any person or Pokémon they do this to. Drowzee are actually very trusted Pokémon around recreational facilities and younger education schools, playing with young children so they enjoy their days before putting them into nap time for the Pokémon to feed; Drowzee do not like the dreams of adults compared to the dreams of children, likely because of societal factors that have led to stress and fatigue in older demographics in recent years.
