Geodude, the Rock Pokémon
“Geodude’s population borders on invasive. They live in droves around the bases of mountains, traveling with each other and challenging one another to battles of bashing to test the strongest among them. Through this training and with age, a Geodude can lose all of its rough edges and become smooth all over, though these are quite rare to see naturally. Reports have spotted over a hundred at a time before, but only fractions of those sightings have ever reported a smoothened Geodude. In fact, the Pokémon can naturally be hard to miss when they aren’t traveling, as they like to roll up into balls and sleep like boulders; unknowing hikers who have bumped into them learn the hard way how aggressive this Pokémon can be.”
“This includes the Geodude found on the islands of Alola. These Geodude lose their Ground typing to instead be an Electric type alongside their other Rock typing, and their bodies are made of a magnetic rock that catches iron sand to their exterior. They butt heads with each other in challenge too, though they test the magnetic strength of each other instead of their durability. This is how the Alolan Geodude normally fights, tackling its opponents and dispersing a minor shock for extra damage. Both variants of the Geodude share the same anti-gravity electromagnetism that keeps their bodies above the ground, though this does not mean they can fly; Geodude can only raise so far above any surface before the signal between their bodies and a floor are too far apart for their anti-gravity to work.”
