Genie in a Bottle

Men visit the neighborhood witch
To bottle up their emotions.
In flasks, jars, soda glass and tupperware,
The men bring their own packaging.

The witch warns them,
Best she can, best they’ll listen;
Not everything can be contained.
Not everything will remain so.

So many wishes blow back in their faces,
Their thoughts and feelings too big to contain.
Is it not her fault
That the heart cannot be removed.

Koffing, the Poison Gas Pokémon

hand-drawn artwork

A Koffing’s body is filled with a multitude of toxic gases constantly swirling around and blending together, and they use these gases for various purposes. The toxins they hold are actually lighter than clean air itself, allowing the Koffing to float in the air, and puffing them out from the holes and pores across their bodies allow the Pokémon to navigate through the air with total control. By mixing them with garbage processed through the Pokémon’s digestive system, these gases can become more potent and effective, ailing and harming any sprayed opponents faster than they otherwise would. And thanks to a small organ sack on the inlining of the Koffing’s body, they can light a spark that combusts the gases and causes them to Self Destruct for massive damage in and out of battle.
As Grimer has found itself threatened by an age of clean energy and less waste produced from human society, Koffing was one of the first known species to evolve to combat our previous means of pollution. First seen in the region of Galar, the Poison Gas Pokémon came to evolve into a Poison-and-Fairy-type Weezing for the complete inverse effect that is threatening the Grimer. Galarian Weezing actually produce clean air from the pollution and toxic gases they breathe in, fighting against the region’s industrial complex back in a time where smoke and pollution were at their most dire. It is their biological ability to purify toxins that have spurred on most of modern day’s clean energy solutions that other Poison types like the Grimer are struggling to acclimate to in the same way.
