Ferrying the People
When people found their homes burning around them
They escaped to the seas on ferries where the flames could not chase
To lands where a spark or match did not lightWhy shouldn’t there be a home free of embers?
Who does not set ablaze their neighbor or themselves?
Nor to those overseas?Why do we have to be a land carrying matchsticks?
Why do they?
Why become an arsonist when all that will be left is to torch their own home?
Why not put in the work so the ferry doesn’t become the safest place to be?
Lapras, the Transport Pokémon
“Lapras are an intelligent and kind-hearted species. It is believed they can understand human commands better than most Pokémon, and rumor says they can also read a person’s mind. Many regions employ Lapras for ferry transport within their borders, such as in Alola where, like the Tauros, Lapras are provided to experienced trainers to traverse between and within the islands on their backs. This is an act of kindness the Transport Pokémon naturally provides of its own volition, which earned it the category it has today. Wild Lapras often provide travel over sea to many wandering Pokémon and people who need it out of nothing but the kindness of their own heart. The same can be said of the Gigantimax form of Lapras only seen in Galar; this seventy-nine-foot tall transformation for the Pokémon is seasonally employed to transport the region’s locals from one end of the region to the other, carrying up to five thousand individuals for a sailing cruise experience with the side-effect of sea sickness.”
“Their good nature was the reason this Pokémon was hunted to near extinction. Many poachers and violent wild Pokémon took advantage of Lapras’ kind offers to capture and run off with them, destroying many pods and diminishing the wildlife population to the point it became as rare to encounter one in the wild as the Dragonite species. But in recent years, wildlife preservationists and marine institutions globally have initiated a movement to not only protect Lapras in the wild from future poaching, but to breed and release new Lapras to keep the species from disappearing entirely; now, Lapras’ reintroduction into many ecosystems is upsetting the fish Pokémon population attempting to take over in their place.”
