I count my every step, though I don’t think I remember every
It hasn’t felt very far, how much I’ve gone since I started
I don’t walk every day anymore
I don’t dig deeper than I already gave
What else could I do, when there isn’t much ground to coverI’ve treaded light/slowly, might be more apt

Plucked from my own garden
Ran laps in my own yard
I listened through neighbors’ windows
Their radios and televisions broadcasting sounds of someone else
Stories of somewhere else
I drew pictures of the wildlife
Read their stories
Reflected on them with my own
Poem after poem, sometimes in desperate search for where I could go nextThis is an island I live on

Voltorb, the Ball Pokémon and the Sphere Pokémon
“Voltorb as we know them today are a mysterious and dangerous sort. First spotted at the factories developing the first manufactured PokéBalls we use in modern time, it is not actually known how this Pokémon came to be. They physically mimic the design of the standard red and white PokéBall most commonly used by Pokémon Trainers, though they are much larger in size. Like the Grimer, some researchers and biologists believe exposure to a mysterious energy brought the prototypes and first discarded PokéBalls to life. Like Gastly, others believe vengeful spirits lingering in the lands in which these factories were built atop possessed these PokéBalls to wrought vengeance, as to explain the Pokémon’s common nature to Self Destruct under even the smallest circumstances.”
“But there is also a third theory, one of which concerns a now extinct species originally discovered in the Sinnoh region back when it was called Hisui by the native people. There was once a species of Pokémon exactly like the Voltorb, that took the form of the steam-powered and wood-made PokéBalls from the time; documentation from this era is not well kept so it is unknown which was created or discovered first. Any records that have survived into modern day do not suggest the Voltorb and the PokéBall even have anything to do with each other, but the similarities cannot be coincidental. This third theory suggests the old Voltorb of Hisui were in fact another species inhabiting a shell that came to resemble or inspire the PokéBall, and as the industrial revolution made waves worldwide, the species adapted their shells from the wood they could find to the metal of the modern day. The question of which came first, the Voltorb or the PokéBall, remains unanswered.”
